The story

I was in Australia for research when I spotted this creature basking in the middle of the road. When I approached, I found something strange, it had legs, but looked like a snake. This is not a snake. Not a lizard. Not a monitor lizard. It’s a blue-tongued skink. It lives a simple life eating insects and small creatures. But when a predator tries to attack, it flashes that shocking blue tongue to startle them. The fascinating part? It won’t bite. And even if it did, there’s no venom. Just a brilliant false threat. A blue lie. @jngrange ಆಸ್ಟ್ರೇಲಿಯಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ರಸ್ತೆ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಸಿಲು ಕಾಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಈ ಜೀವಿ ಕಂಡಿತು. ಹತ್ತಿರ ಹೋಗಿ ನೋಡಿದಾಗ , ಕಾಲು ಇದೆ, ಆದರೆ ಹಾವಿನಂತೆ ಇದೆ. ಇದು ಹಾವಲ್ಲ, ಹಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲ್ಲ, ಉಡವೂ ಅಲ್ಲ. ಬ್ಲೂ-ಟಂಗ್ಡ್ ಸ್ಕಿಂಕ್ - ನೀಲಿ ನಾಲಿಗೆಯ ಹಾವರಾಣಿ. ಸರಳ ಜೀವನ ಹುಳ ಹುಪಟೆ ತಿನ್ನುವುದು. ಆದರೆ ಅಪಾಯ ಬಂದಾಗ? ಆ ನೀಲಿ ನಾಲಿಗೆ , ಶಿಕಾರಿಯನ್ನು ತಬ್ಬಿಬ್ಬುಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ. ಕುತೂಹಲ ಏನಂದರೆ - ಇದು ಕಚ್ಚಲ್ಲ. ಕಚ್ಚಿದರೂ ವಿಷವಿಲ್ಲ. ಒಂದು ಹುಸಿ ಸುಳ್ಳಿನ ನಾಲಿಗೆ ಅಷ್ಟೇ!್ನಡಿಜ್ಞಾನ್ರಕೃತಿುತೂಹುಳ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
